For a while I was getting caught up in the ground swell of X5 mania fueled by Austonia and others. But I resisted, hesitated (believe it or not), until the inevitable list of shortcomings began to appear. This phenomenon obviously is not unique to the iAudio DAP, but fairly universal and a predictable part of the process: DAP is born; bandwagon is formed by those who generally favor products from DAP's manufacturer; throngs jump on bandwagon and shout DAP's praises from the rooftops; a few begin to appear to be 'getting off the bus' because of DAP's shortcomings; cnet chimes in with some incomprehensible blatherings, demonstrating their continued predilection toward irrelevancy; DAP settles in to its appropriate position in the marketplace.

I think X5 is somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, and some of the "issues" have cooled my fire on the product somewhat. What I'm saying is I'm taking the 'wait and see' attitude on it. Problem with the Sony HD3 is that it's going away - so if one wants it one can't wait too long. HD5's button cracking issue has me steering clear of that, so for now if it's Sony it's HD3 for me. JUST DON'T KNOW....

The whole Sony line is overrated. I got bored with my NW-HD1 (practically the same thing as the nw-hd3 except with a higher quality body) and sold it for a Rio Karma. Love my Karma and hdd120. Liked the nw-hd1, but I wasnt ever using it. Its just boring.

Also for 250, you are getting ripped off.

I don't own an X5. What are its shortcomings? What are the "issues" that plague the X5?

I think jude's been really busy. It took a couple weeks to get mine updated, and it seems most people have had to wait that long as well.

FWIW, you could stir up this thread, it seems that most people who posted got their title pretty quickly. It was probably just coincidence, but hey, why not. It's better than just PMing jude every 5 minutes....well, for jude, anyway. I think pming jude every 10 minutes is a good compromise
