Screwing around with my marshmallows trying to get the
kramer mod foam thing to sound right and I stuck a bit
of blue tack on the outside of the housing and liked what
I heard. Not wanting to walkaround with bluetac sticking
out of my ears I thought about putting it in side the housing
behind the driver. So I cracked em open and put some blue
tac in there and added a bit of foam from some Flents
ear plugs that I have been using to make some nice
foamies for the marshmallows. Still playing around
but I like what I am hearing and listening to them
with the backs off was interesting as well, mini grados?
Anyway if anyone wants to play around with more mods
on these cheap little things.

dam... How did you get your knife tip in there like that? Mine are glued and sealed TIGHT.

Can you do me a favor and post pics of the inside of the phones, with that plastic part removed? Can you take the driver out through the opening? I want to try converting mine to a balanced armature.???... But that all depends on whether I can get the driver out.

thanks!!

The knife actually was not how I got in there, just a thumb tack pin
in the elbow on each side inserted and then leverages poped it.
looks like you can get the driver out but they may not for servicable
after "extraction". Bit of damage to em from prying.

Make your own with sissors cutting them to length squish em flat
with your thumb stick something like a sharp pencil or in my case
a eyeglass screwdriver through the middle. Stretch the hole out by
wiggling quickly place over the tube before it returns to its original
shape. The Flents brand foams are really quite soft so its super easy.
10 pairs of these flents could probably make a 20 pairs of foamies

Brave dude

What's the intended sacrifice?

@ JadeEast: that part of the driver you're holding, is that with or without the diaphragm? Looks like it's all metal.

The diaphram is the clear plastic connected to the coiled copper wire still located inside the housing. The only thing he removed was the electromagnet.

I'm not exactly sure why you'd install balanced armatures with a Marshmallow housing. You could make your own custom fitted driver housings out of that AllFix epoxy (dont know if you remember my really old thread, but pictures are in my sig) with much better results.

Anyways, those look exactly like the drivers within the Koss Plug. Plugs are a lot easier to open and have a bit more room for modding. Only issue is they are open dynamic, but a bit of blue tac can fix that.
