well then again, cotdt didn't think the heed would work well with the k701 either becuase its such a "simple" design. Alot of people love the lite with their 701's and then there are those that hate it. don't worry about it too much. yet at least

Dry as in lacking emotions in bringing the recordings alive. K701 is a rather neutral/flat phones, which would benefit from a warmer amp. However, since the GL is also a colder SS amp, the combo is not something i'd prefer.

The "cold" sound of the combo can be entirely corrected at the source level, by starting with a warm-sounding source, and you can also improve it more by using copper ICs than silver. Indeed, the performance of the K701/GL combo is entirely dependent on source, it's not limited to either the amp or the headphones.

That said, I don't know why "cold" or "neutral" get a bad rap around here. Do you guys not want to hear your music with stunning detail & clarity?

Do you like the sound of your HD650? If you do, you will probably not like the K701 combo.

gcha + k701 = win

sorry didn't want to make a thread for it but I had to say it haha

That being said, I've heard the 205.2 with a headfive for the 701s and that sounded very warm to me
