Official X7 beta firmware (Android 5.1) download and discussion thread -- FW3.0.6 beta

It seems to work on my windows 10 machine, It also works sometimes on my linux machine, but crashes most of the time.

charging also takes a lot longer, i've had it on a 2.1A 5V charger for 9 hours and it is only at 85%, while before, on fw 2.0, it would take about 6 - 7 hours to fully charge. same cable, same charger.

Hi, CH23
For the Linux system issue, we will give this feedback to the engineers and find the reason of it.
For the charging issue, do you charge the X7 when turning on and using it? Please try to test the charging time by turning off the X7 to see whether it helps?

regarding the linux issue: i'm running the Trisquel GNU/Linux operating system, completely up to date, including the linux libre 4.7.5 kernel. the program i used when it crashed is MPV. the file has an AAC, 96kbps, 48000Hz stereo audio file.

Regarding the charging: I have now turned it off, it was at 45%. will check how fast it charges in 3 hours. then I will have it play music using my IEMs, and see how fast it drains.

Thanks.

2.5 hours since i started charging, with device off.
it is at 65%, so 20% over 2.5 hours, meaning roughly 12.5 hours for empty to full

Hi, CH23
The charging time can't be counted like that. If you are convenient, please try to fully charge your X7 and test the time. You can change the USB cable and charger to see whether it helps as well.

Hi, here is the latest beta firmware FW3.0.8_beta for the X7: click here. You may try to update your X7 if you have interest.

Kindly note that that is a beta version and might not be stable enough compared to the stable versions. So please think carefully before upgrading with this firmware.

Hi FiiO,

Finally got a chance to charge it from empty to full, same charger, same cable, firmware 3.0.8b (beta!), turned the device off, took less than 7 hours to fully charge.

I will try to do the same with the device turned on, as soon as possible.

Has anyone been successful in updating to android 5.1 with windows 10. I followed the steps for updating firmware to 3.0 and the step where you are to open device manager there is no unkown device shown when I connect via USB. Therefore I can't update the driver. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ken

I too used Win10 for the update. With the device turned off, plug it into your system. Then turn on the X7 while holding the volume up button. Then check device manager. Try this and let me know.

Hi, Ken
Did you try collect the X7 to your computer in this way: power off the X7, connect it to the computer via USB while holding the Volume Up button (the top button on the left side of the unit)?
