After downloading the update, please unpack (unZIP) the package and read the update instructions contained within.


Please note that all firmware posted in this thread are beta firmware--please post in this dedicated thread if you have any issues with these versions, and if you encounter serious problems, consider flashing back to a stable release.

The following changes and improvements were made to FW1.44beta compared to FW1.4:
1. Added support for ReplayGain;
2. Added library search function: activate by holding Shortcuts button in any category or folder browsing screen; use previous / next buttons to switch between numbers and alphabet).
3. Increased USB storage transfer speeds (≥8MB/s);
4. Added Recently Played playlist (via Play by Category);
5. Added DoP and D2P options to S/PDIF output;
6. Added Line Output level options (fixed or variable level);
7. Optimized UI operation and speed;
8. Amended user interface in Play by Category;
9. Added play mode: play single track and stop
10. Added option to delete a track (outside of Now Playing);
11. Fixed issue with hidden files stored by a Mac OS computer accessing the cards on the X3 2nd gen;
12. Fixed issue with syncing timed lyrics to song position;
13. Fixed issue where some ID3 tag info could not be read correctly;
14. Added option to manually clear media library database file (via System Settings);
15. USB OTG function (which had never been compatible with many USB devices) has been disabled to improve device detection in storage and DAC modes by the computer;
16. Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Note:
In the process of updating to FW1.44beta, only Favorites and internal playlist data will be retained--settings and media library database will be reset. If downgrading from FW1.44beta to older firmware, settings and media library database will also be reset.

The following changes and improvements were made to FW1.11 compared to FW1.1:
1. Pressing the Back button from the Now Playing screen will now always take you to the folder / album / etc. from which the current song is selected. This is true even after navigating to the main menu or powering the X3 off and back on;

2. Added support for M3U playlists without the "#EXTM3U" header;

3. Equalizer may now also be used with line out and coaxial output;

4. Improved gapless playback of single music files split by CUE sheets;

5. Fixed issue where certain situations caused the player to play songs without sound;

6. Fixed issue where certain music files caused the player to hang;

7. The default function of the multifunction output has been changed to line out, to cater to the majority of users using it as line out;

8. Reduced crackling noises when inserting and removing earphones while music is playing;

9. Fixed issue where there would be no sound on playback if connections to the headphone out / line out were broken and reconnected / changed within one second;

10. Fixed issue where the X3 has trouble entering standby if a micro SD card or OTG storage was removed while music was playing;

11. Fixed issue where the headphone output made noises if the volume is changed using the volume keys when the player is acting as USB DAC;

12. "Idle poweroff" renamed "Idle standby" to correct description of the function.

Known issue: users with X3's of NB code W233b (check in System Settings->About X3) may receive an error message on disconnecting / reconnecting headphones after flashing to this firmware. Please flash back to 1.1 if you receive this error and inform us of the issue.

Okay just installed new firmware and here comes the first BUG!!
When I normally remove the earphone from the jack the error message appears as " Output error! please reinsert earphones" And player hangs. No other buttons work except volume keys and power button.
Need to restart it all over again.

One thing I noticed: After pressing the menu button (upper right) from the now playing screen it takes 6 seconds for the menu to appear.

After updating my X3ii it is making a clicking noise when I insert or remove my IEMs. 
I never noticed this until today, is this normal?
 
EDIT: It is making the clicking noises when turning it off and on as well.

I just made the request for point 1 & 3, and reported the gapless playback of CD image in my review today, and within a few hours you fix it!

I've always noticed this, also had it on the OG X3 too.
