I used this one but after some research last night found that this is a fake and maybe, just maybe that's the reason why the transfer speeds are so slow.

The recommended one is this one. But then again the one I am using works fine in the iPod as far as music playing and file browsing operation goes so I plan to keep it.

That's a brilliant response and very helpful - many thanks - I will make the mod.

I have a 16GB CF in there now but a 64GB iPod mini would be just brilliant.

Cheers,

Andy

Here you go.

Out of curiosity, How does one secure the adapter to the board so it does not disconnect or slide around after you put the backplate on? I am considering not selling one of my iPod Video's I picked up so I can so a DIYMod and SSD upgrade to it for funzies.

Also, anyone got a US Amazon link to the mSATA adapter I need? I understand their might be slight variations to them that I am not 100% sure about. I would rather get informed by someone more knowledgeable so I would get the right one if I decide to go ahead with my plan

I used a little piece of 3m double side tape.

Here's the link for the adapter.

Rockbox Patch & Test Build Available for mSATA

Here is the latest from the RB devs Torne ...

"Posted a patch for this here: http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/469/

There's an ipodvideo test build of this available here if anyone wants to try: http://whitefang.wolfpuppy.org.uk/temp/rockbox-piotimings.zip - if you try this let me know how it works. On the device I have this is not 100% functional yet; it boots and plays audio but test_disk hangs and USB behaves badly."

If anyone has tried on this, please let us know how it performs. Thanks.

No upgrades, just new parts.

I get the 5.5th brighter screen for 415 shipped and the front and back cover for $16 shipped, the battery for $4 shipped too!

The drive is just a 80gb one.

Maybe you would pay me $800 for my 5.5th gen iPod video with all those upgrades but also have the drive upgraded to 256gb mSATA.  He-he!

Hey everyone,
I'd need some help
size]

right now i'm waiting for my ZIF to mSata adapter to arrive,
and i thought i could, when im installing the drive, change the battery aswell!
does anyone know wich ones to get? will the Bigger 850 mah (for the 80GB backcover) one fit inside of my thin "30 GB" Backcover if i put in my mSata adapter? (since its thinner than the original drive, i hope/assume) I thought about something like this http://www.ebay.de/itm/NEW-IPOD-5TH-GEN-5G-60GB-VIDEO-MODEL-HIGH-CAPACITY-BATTERY-MODEL-A1136-616-0232-/200910051872?pt=UK_CE_MP3Access_RL&hash=item2ec72c1a20
and which batteries do have the best quality/capacity/lifetime? is there any certain "Brand" to get?

thanks a whole lot
