u and i have few headphones in common :)
i am trying to convince ,myself to buy a blue hawaii for my 007mk2 , although i know i will still like both SE and V1 more in the end than 007 mk2 powered by blue hawaii

i am just in awe how amazing he1000v1 sounds, its perfection yes i love my he1000se alot as well, all i can say no other headphone company can stand against the mighty hifiman 1000 series, no empyrean, no lcd 4z, lcd4, mx4, no utopia no stax 007 no nothing.

it is just hifiman period he1000 series, best sound best comfort best everything

    Really?
I have the v2 and don't like it much. The sound is too soft edged. I much prefer the HD800s. It sounds more immediate. If you can tame its treble I really prefer the Ultrasone ed.10.
I think there is a big difference between planar sound and dynamic sound.

    A huge overstatement.

well that is maybe true for people who have extreme hearing loss in the upper frequencies that only an hd800 can satisfy them with its stabbing metallic peaks in the highs

to call a he1000 soft edged is the first i ever read, while its known that he1000 series has details, impact and sound stage, but it makes sense if someone is coming from the piercing, bass less and thin sounding mids of HD800

finally by all means let members come to their own conclusions and let their ears be the final judge

I would put it that the HE1000V2 is a little "splashy", that is, there is a little of what sounds like fuzzy jangly ringing in the upper frequencies especially in response to transients. This limits the micro detail. The HD800S in comparison totally lacks this effect, and has considerably more micro-detail and lucidity in the upper frequencies. This is as would be expected since the HD800 ring radiator has no interference causing magnet array. Audio engineering is such a complex web of tradeoffs.

This effect in the HE1000V2 is apparently due to a phenomenon noted by a couple of reviewers in their measurements (also of the Abyss AB-1266) - a multitude of closely spaced low amplitude narrow band resonances caused by the magnet array being in close proximity to the diaphragm. The resonances are caused by reflections in the narrow air spaces between the diaphragm and the magnets. This problem is apparently corrected in the revised magnet structure of the HE1000se, which according to all reports lacks that effect.

Overall, I still much prefer the HE1000V2 to the HD800S, for its superb sound staging and overall sound. To me, the HD800S superior high frequency micro detail is combined with a slight "boxy" or enclosure-like effect which detracts from the overall sound and transparency. This and other slight problems make the tradeoff for me much in favor of the HE1000V2. I have a HE1000se on order.
