Alright, folks, here is the purpose of this thread:

It is for sharing links to FREE FLAC music files.

The rules are very simple. Please share your links to legal downloads of FREE FLAC music files.

1. Any type of music is fine, but it must be in FLAC format.
2. The downloads must be legal and they must be free.

I'll start it off. My first selection is a three-song EP by TV Torso called 'Clear Lake Strangler.'

Here is the link where you can download all three songs for free in FLAC format:

If I rip some of my CDs in flac, then put it in some server, then let you download the whole albums for free, would that be legal?

I don't believe so.

No. Not if it is copyrighted commercial music.

Let me provide another example of a free and legal FLAC download.

Here is a link:

At that link, you will find an entire concert by The Cowboy Junkies. The recording is a binaural recording intended especially for headphone use. It is available in multiple formats on that page, including FLAC. If you want to download the entire concert in FLAC, the easiest way is to use the "Lossless zip" link located on the left side of the page where it says, "Play / Download."

I can't say whether you'll like The Cowboy Junkies or not, but it is an excellent live recording intended for headphone users.

Enjoy.

I'm glad you had a chance to try it, wuwhere.

Okay, here is some more free FLAC format music. This time it is (mostly) classical music.

These are high resolution 24bit FLAC files. Some folks may not be able to play this type of file, so I'm sharing this link for people who know that they are able to play these files.

Once again, enjoy...

There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in free FLAC files around here. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe it's because you don't have to flip 'em over when the needle gets to the end?

Anyway, I'll try a few more.

I really like everything I've heard by a band called Black Books so far. According to the tags on Bandcamp, they're working in "alternative dream pop experimental indie rock psychedelic shoegaze southern dream pop austin tx Austin." They keep playing live around Austin, Texas, so I'm waiting for MorbidToaster to do a review of one of their live shows.

Here's where you can find three of their songs in FLAC for free:

Here is a link to some downtempo electronica off of the upcoming album above.

The song is "Minor Cause" by Emancipator and it is available in free 44.1 / 24 FLAC here:

Alright, time for more cool free FLACs!

Here is a live concert by Ryan Adams recorded October 17, 2006 at Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Click on the "Lossless zip" link on the left side of the page under "Play / Download" to get the entire show in FLAC.

StratocasterMan, this is a great thread, I'm lovin' it!

Besides being free, I'm getting introduced to some new music that I'll probably eventually end up buying.

Don't know of any links to free FLAC files myself, but if I find any I'll post them here.

Thanks for starting this thread!!

Edit: HDtracks has a free sampler that you can download in FLAC
