This guy makes some really awesome videos on YouTube where all of the audio is done with the stepper motors of a floppy disk drive. This is a 24/96 download too!

Well, this is a little side effect of a project of mine. The project itself is a GM/GS drumkit sampler, Solar Battery.

As you may guess, a MIDI drumkit requires a lot of testing to make sure it works with standard MIDI files. So here comes an entire album mixed with the new drumkit, as a test of sorts.

The album is a remix of the 1997 Raven Software game Mageslayer soundtrack. Composed/arranged by Kevin Schilder in 1997. My version is rather different from the original game CD soundtrack, and (surprise) it's a 96/24 FLAC album.

The composer, Kevin Schilder, has checked with Activision's legal department and, this is a legal release for as long as the soundtrack is not re-used in another game. The lawyers say it's free for non-profit use, but of course you can't sell this album or re-use it for any profit-making, commercial purpose.

Here's another free download for you guys and gals to enjoy.

bansheebeat - Spiral Power

Album's alright, if a bit conventional sounding, but does the artist have rights to use that particular image for the cover?
It's from an Inio Asano manga called Umibe no Onnanoko. I see no mention of it on the Bandcamp page.

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but based no the first three tracks, it's good.

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but based no the first three tracks, it's good.

I gave it a brief listen yesterday when I got the email about it. As much as I love the original album and greatly enjoy electronic music, none of these remixes really seemed to appeal to me. Might still grab it at some point and see if it'll grow on me, though. Right now I already have too much music in queue that I've bought but haven't yet had the time to listen to. So much music, so little time…
