Folder mode works flawlessly so far.  Same with skipping forward from last song in folder/back from first. Not only than, it automatically follows hierarchy as well - so nicely implemented Joe!

In case anyone doesn't know what I mean by hierarchy - my folders are like this:

\ A-C \ A Fine Frenzy \ Bomb In A Bird Cage \ tracks in the album
\ A-C \ A Fine Frenzy \ One Cell In the Sea \ tracks in the album
\ A-C \ Agnes Obel \ Aventine \ tracks in the album
\ A-C \ Agnes Obel \ Philharmonics \ tracks in the album
etc
\ D-F \ Daft Punk \ Random Access Memories \ tracks in the album

Last track on first A Fine Frenzy Album goes to first track on the 2nd album.
Last track on second A Fine Frenzy Album goes to first track on the 1st Agnes Obel album.

Last track on the last album in the A-C master folder goes to first track of first album in the D-F

Folder deletion also works - and nice to see the confirmation dialogue there.

Playlists (external) still working great.  Nice job Joe.

Playing through folders is indeed the best new feature. Didn´t know that I missed it until I´ve heard what it does and that even very old players like my Sony NW-HD 5 do it. BTW, did the firmware guys change something about the sound? I might suffer from a placebo but it seems as if overall sound is less muddy with improved stage (which would be very welcome). Haven´t measured it yet so I can´t really say.

Great job - immediately better sq!
I look forward to further development in the direction of the natural sound

@Marlene - it's not placebo. It would be good if the highs were more sparkling and bass got more dynamic, but they are changing in the right direction.

Question:
I'm experiencing some [Chinese?] hieroglyphs in _every_other_ song  tags and displayed name.
Originally these tags are with Cyrillic (Win-1251) and the rest (other half) is shown just fine.
I've tried several FW including previous - no difference in this behavior.
UPDATE: Indeed, this is tag encoding issue. Not fixed in 1.22beta. It was the sorting order which confused me.

Anybody knows - is this s known display "feature" and if it expected/fixed in this or any coming beta FW ?

Half of songs with Win-1251 tags are displayed correctly and the other half are shown in Chinese?

It looks as my collection has mixed tags ;(
Because of sort order it appeared half-half.
Just check other albums - some Windows-based are not taken, but Mac(UTF?) is just fine.
As X1 does not know the encoding, it displays it in Chinese, right?
PS: Only tags, file names are fine.

I still haven´t eliminated the possibility of a placebo on my part but I think nonetheless that there´s a distinct difference in stage and overall precision. But treble won´t be more sparkly, I seem to remember that FiiO deliberately engineered the X1 to sound this way.

But that´s it: if one wants to have a balanced and neutral sound, one has to go for the X5.

ExFAT seams to work as expected. I received an error message, which I think is a bug, "File system not supported" when I plugged the charging cable with the player off.
I was not able to replicate the message, maybe is related to level of battery since at error message aperance the player was off by itself on low battery.

Regards,
Me

Strange - I specifically tested folder deletion and it worked fine on mine.
