HD700 and TH-900 were mentioned.

What would you say as a summary since many of us can't read the language

post 25

PAW gold driving HD700 has better control on treble as comparing to Hugo driving HD700

some guy then replied

Hugo amp section has more power and it sounds better when pairing with HD650

post 34

some guy asked

I have already ordered Hugo, please let me know how PAW gold compares

the OP replied

didnt really AB but I feel that PAW gold would perform on the same level as Hugo and probably better in driving TH900

all in all, pretty vague ......

Jokes aside it sounds pretty good apparently but that price tag and that design.. *sigh* (I am not really a "gold" person you know)

Does anyone have any news on the Aune M1?  It looks like it's out in China.  There are several for sale on Taobao, but I can't tell if they're pre-orders or in stock.

I would love some details on the "Deluxe version" with the better oscillator.  None of the Taobao listings specify "standard" or "deluxe" versions.

I'm also curious about why it plays wave files only.  I'm assuming the inevitable Rockbox port will cure that little problem.

I thought Musiland was all about the FPGA funness? Why are they going with a ready-made DAC chip?
they kinda stopped playing with fpgas 1-2 years ago (when xmos was become the alt thing)...
and switched to an ARM CPUs and possibly FPUs? SuperDSP100 = dual core arm cpu + possibly extras in a form of DSP. (probs the same reason most people go for ARM in DAPs nowadays (and or unfortunately android but of not in this case (android providing a horrible UI and glitchy playback platform for many beta versions))

why? because you want need to redo most of your firmware and get a whole lot of new bugs (MD30 and md11 was finally stable lol). and probably cheaper and easier to program (FPGAs are a pain and I'm not 100% sure what's going on with their pricing from xilinx or whatever the other vendor was)...

Interesting thread. I'm in the market for a DAP, so I'll keep my eyes on here. I don't know much about audio, but I know about shopping in China, so I'll give a little input. I was in Guangzhou city centre a couple of days ago, near an audio market in the dashatou area, so I thought I'd look around for fiio products and try to get a listen on an x3 or x5. It was mostly home audio; separates, fancy looking tube amps, and wooden speakers. The rest was commercial stuff. Huge PA things for nightclubs and outdoor events. I didn't see a single portable DAP. In the end I asked three guys and got nothing except the observation that people don't really buy mp3 players anymore. They hadn't heard of Fiio by it's Chinese name looked baffled by a picture of the x3. One suggested the large computer market at Gangding (also Guangzhou), which would be a better bet, but the moral of the story is don't expect things like this to be easy to find for a new arrival. What the OP says about it being rare to find someone in a shop that speaks English is probably more true in Guangzhou than in Beijing (assuming that's where he is). If I fid one a store or market with DAPs I'll post on here or create a thread.

Hi Phillip,

Most, if not all, brick and mortar stores also have presence on taobao so it's easier to start from there. The two listed below are well-known in the Chinese head-fi community:

They are just pre-orders. The tentative delivery date is around the 2nd week of August.

Thanks for that! Those are handy links. I just read the whole thread in two minutes, so will have missed things, but I read this post and just wanted to get the message out there that this stuff is not at all widely stocked by shops, so you'd need to give them a specific address for a store that you knew had it, or just get it ordered locally and shipped to your hotel.

I like this thread. Sub'd. I have a friend in the lab, who will be going to China around September I believe. Maybe she can buy one of them for me. I like that Alien thingy, looks super cool. Hope it sounds good too and priced reasonably. Gotta check the first post.

Edit: Checked the first post. Disappointed in Alien. Pretty much no specs but it supports micro sd up to 32 gb only? It is a joke right?

Still there are some other contenders. QLS QA360 looks like built like a tank. Gotta check this thread in regular basis.
