Hi. I have recently bought a Sony NW-HD3 from the US. I live in the UK and I have a plug converter where the US style plug slots inside a UK style plug and it just plugs straight into the wall socket. There is a big voltage difference though between the US and the UK (US is 110V I think and the UK is around 230V). Does anyone know where I can get either a power adaptor for this purpose or a HD3 power adaptor in the UK?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I think I will have to buy a 230V to 110V converter but I need to know what Watt output I need to get in a power converter.

If the Wattage is low then it is no problem but it the unit has a large Wattage requirement then it will be expensive to buy a converter and may then be cheaper to try and buy a HD3 power adaptor straight from Sony.

The equation is Voltage x Current (in Amps) so if it is 60mA then a 45W power converter will work and they are cheap to buy.

I really need someone who has got a HD3 to tell me the voltage and amp rating from their unit so that I can work the Watt requirement.

Do you have a HD3 power unit?? If so could you tell me these values?

I would appreciate it if you could

Hi,

If you visit Maplins you will be able to buy a power supply which will be a lot cheaper than a voltage/frequency convertor. They are supplied with a variety of plugs, one of which will fit your player. (Other end terminated in 13amp plug)

Worth visiting rather than ordering on line, so you can be totaly sure the connectors available fit your player. I use these connectors for a back up batterty supply, and car charger, for both Rio Karma and Zen Xtra by simply change to the appropriate connector.

Cheers

I managed to get a power converter for £13 delivered which is fine. It still allows me to use the official Sony adaptor. I can charge it through USB if I have to but this is not always easy (boot up PC, etc). Thanks for the suggestion :-)
