I have the UF30s, which I love, but have not had a chance to listen to the HD238. Aren't those cans in a higher price bracket than the UF30s, though? I would expect the HD238s would beat the UF30s handily... but I can't say for myself.
I have heard that the HD238s are very bassy to the point of being boomy. The UF30s are not exactly boomy, but are definitely bass-lover cans. HD238 is also supposed to have good mid and high frequencies; the UF30s are a bit veiled in this department so again I hypothesize the HD238s should win this contest.
But in the end it depends what kind of sound you like. The UF30s have a very warm sound signature. Nice, fat bass and decent, but not great mids and highs. I wouldn't call it a "tight" presentation but rather a very loose and airy one. Very expansive soundstage though, especially surprising for small portable cans like these.
I don't know what kind of sound signature the Senns have so you can wait for someone to chime in on that.
