Hi head-fi,

I just got a pair of NE7-M's and they don't work with any of my portable sources properly. Does anyone find this to be the case? I have a Gigabeat F series, ipod Mini and shuffle (1st gen), all have channels cutting out unless i leave the plug a few mm out of the jack (i.e. not fully inserted). Is this problem related to the phones having a remote/mic?

Thanks!

Strange. It sounds like they are wired wrong. The very tip should be the mic connector, but if it's working a few mm out and not working normally, it sounds to me like the tip is output instead of input.

You could try them with a headphone extension cable if you've got one (an extension will cause a solid connection in the 3 correct places). If they still have the same problem with an extension, I'd send them back for replacement. I suspect that they got wired wrong during manufacturing.
