Now I know how the Sony stock earbuds suck

Just out of curiosity, I connected my Sony stock earbuds to an amp. What a revelation! Out of the headphone out, I thought the stock earbuds sounded pretty darn good. Hooked up to a headphone amp, wow, everything just lacks detail, especially the bass, muddy is the only way I can describe.

Now I can appreciate more the virtues of high end cans

i do this often just so i try to trick myself in to not buying more stuff.

highend headphones sound so much better when comparing an ultra crappy set. on top of that, it's fresh in your mind. There is nothing better of a reminder of the quailty of parts you have then comparing them to what everyone else uses.

well maybe when you invite your other nonhifi friends to take a listen and are blown away.
