Does anyone here have any experience with notebook sound cards? I've currently been looking at the Aureon 5.1 USB MKII and the X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook.
Now, I plan to mostly use this with headphones, but for movies, I'd hook it up to my monitor and X-530 speakers, so I would really like to have 5.1 audio output.
Are there any decent sound cards for notebooks that will offer superior quality to your standard AC97 or whatever the card is on current Inspiron/Vostro notebooks? Additionally, it would be ideal for it to offer increased performance by offloading some of the work, though I've heard the X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook does not do this -- any truth to that statement?
Hmm, just before posting this, I noticed the Aureon 5.1 only does 16-bit/48KHz, whereas the X-Fi does 24-bit/96kHz...
