I've just compared my DT770's on my Corda HA-1 compared to my headphone jack on my Rotel, and the HA-1 does not seem to sound any better.

Simply, the Rotel is a better match for your tastes with the DT-770s. And, there is nothing wrong with that at all. If you ever get a chance to hear the DT-770 with the MOH go for it; it's a great combo in my opinion.

So much for being eternally happy with your rig eh Paul?

Seems that you owe me an Orpheus for me betting that you'd find something wrong with it within a month...

...I'll PM you my address

Seriously though, more power to you, if you find an integrated sounds better than a dedicated unit...

...I liked my Marantz PM66SEIIKI before the right channel died on it... never fathomed what was wrong with it... ho-hum

Fone jack from Audiolab's 8000S was pretty respectable also!

The HA-1 might be revealing the flaws of your source more than your default jack. Of course, it could also be what CRESCENDOPOWER said: A matter of taste. I also second the MOH, it really works well with the DT770s. Very neutral sound.

I'm not sure if thats the case really, the Rotel is not seeming any less detailed really. To be honest there aint much in it, but it seems the Rotel edges it in terms of being enjoyable to listen to.

I am going to try both several times over the coming week or so, but if my impression remains the HA-1 will have to go. I was concerned about this originally, if you remember, as I have always been impressed with the quality of it, although when I bought the amp I was originally using the DT931's which was a highly touted combo, now those have gone.

Ah well, we live and learn. Once again, the Rotel confirms itself as a seriously underrated amplifier for the money in my eyes.
