may be "not impressed" is an exaggeration, but while listening with er6's (with bi-flange) at a volume like 2 notchs above my home listening volume, i can still pretty much hear engine noises from buses and other people's conversations, i dont mean that the isolation from er6 sucks, but i really need something more "kick ass" in the isolation area, would the tri-flanges from er4p isolate better? what suggestions would u guys give me? thanks

oh by the way, i think i did push the earphones inside enough, like nothing, nothing pops out of my ear at all

I listened to my ER6 today for over 3 hours and as always, isolation is excellent. You say you insert them deep enough so I don't know...mine fit very deep. I'd been using foam tip but switched to the bi-flange for a while. Both work for me.

I don't listen very loud and there's no way I can hear people talking with music playing. I can understand if you can detect engine noise/rumble because part of that is feeling the vibrations.

i think you can get replacement tips from shure. i know the er6i and er4p/s tips are interchangeable but not compatible with er6s.

edit: oh yeah and i wouldn't worry about inserting them deeper if both flanges are inside your ear. the posts don't go in there! heh

Your mistake is using biFlanges, which offer the same iso. as Shure Softflex tips. u want iso.? Go for foamies! .........or u can compromise with triFlanges. Biflanges make very little sense.

anyway, you problem is not in IEM selection - it's tip selection and fit.

I know what you are talking about....the newer ones isolation is shameful....

um, what the hell are you talking about? the er-6i white\black use the same tips in different colors and are built exactly the same exept the white\black plastic and cable

about the isolation.. How much time have u been using them? the isolation for me has improved soo much and so has the sound. mainly because of ongoing change in the tips, they soften and change tip, and moisten up in time.. and your ear adjust too..

try giving them some time or if this is after a lot of listening, try getting other types of tips

I always thought the ER6 isolation was good. With my ER4-P, on the other hand, my commute has become really enjoyable since I can't even hear the rumble of the subway. The only problem with the ER4 is that my ears feel like they are going to fall off after an hour and a half.
