I was on a Norwegian flag vessel in the Gulf of Mexico a few months ago. The fish dishes were great, baked salmon in a yogurt dill sauce, dynamite!

I have noticed the same, for years.
Literally half the people on the subway are wearing PortaPro's. No idea how that happened though..
