My goodness, it appears that we have another shooting
: 'Several people' injured in NIU shooting --

I pray that there aren't any more casualties.

A "casualty" is generally an injury or death.

Yeah, it's a fairly common misconception. The modern definition is a military term regarding manpower losses due to injury, death, or desertion. When used in a civilian context, desertion is non-applicable and minor (not disabling) injuries may be included.

As of 8:05pm est: 5 dead; 18 wounded.

A sad day indeed.

My sympathy and prayers go to those who were wounded and killed and their families. It is a horrible reality that there are people in this world that do evil things. This happened in another “Gun Free Zone”. I guess it was really only “gun free” in the sense that the law abiding people were denied the option of having the means to defend themselves. The whack job who did this didn’t seem to be deterred by the “No guns allowed” rule.
