First time I've ever seen Norah Jones perform, and ******* she's hot. Like HOT hot. When I saw Shakira and the rhythm of her hips on SNL my jaw dropped - it was like watching a snake charmer only I was the snake. I was completely hypnotized and I'm completely serious. I didn't really think I'd ever see another performer on modern day SNL who could do that... but damn Norah Jones is sexy.

On a side note: SNL has really gone downhill this season compared to the past 2 1/2 years - the host tonight was DeNiro and it still wasn't funny. One sketch had DeNiro as Roy and Harvey Kietel as Sigfreid (sp? the guys with the tigers in Vegas) and the highlight was still Norah Jones. That made me sad... then Norah Jones performed again and now I'm really wishing I dated a woman who can play piano and has a voice like that.

Anyway, anyone else see it? Or has anyone seen her live/in person? Tell me I'm not crazy here.

I did not see the entire show yet. My wife and I were baby sitting for our niece so I caught the opening sketch, and later Norah's first song. I taped it and will watch it later. And yes, she is hot in a very smokey kind of way. I would love to see her perform "One Flight Down". Those eyes are incredible, and so is her voice. The perfect compliment for my Etys. I can't wait for her next album.

A few months ago I had just discovered her after reading about her on this forum. Two days later I learned that she had performed at one of the casinos here in Connecticut. I was so mad. I would have drove down there just to see her on a moment's notice. I'm not much of a concert guy, but I would like to see her.

As for SNL, the show is not funny most of the time. However, last night's opening sketch was the funniest bit I've ever seen on that show. It was funnier than the Shweaty Balls NPR bit. They made fun of terrorists names. I can't remember any of the names but even if I did, it was the kind of thing that you just had to see it for yourself. I don't know how DeNiro could keep from laughing. They must have rehersed it a million times.

I taped it but only watched the first song, Don't Know Why, which, might I add, was re-arranged. The draggy and syncopated 70 to 75+ beat per minute original was transformed into a more on the quarter note vocal and drum rearrangement that I wasn't particularly keen on, nor, do I think she was more comfortable performing. It left the smokey blues feeling out to dry, like something that Pat Boone might do to a cover song. So, to lay down the cliche, if it ain't broke...

I'm gonna hit the ReplayTV and see what the second song was right now. And indeed, she did look quite hot yesterday night on Saturday Night Live -- far more than, say, her Leno appearance in June/July (which, of course, still lives on my ReplayTV -- viva ReplayTV!)

bubbaj,

i tuned in a little late and missed that sketch, sounds like it would have more than made up for the rest of the show. but man, the past two years (before this season) were hilarious - half the time i laughed just looking at tracy morgan, wondering what he'd say next.

best sketch ever by the way? i've seen a few episodes from the eddie murphy days and that stuff was all-time funny.

gloco,
well, i wasn't much of a fan until last night

its a day later and i'm still thinking "damn"

neil,

damn, last night's first performance made me think of just about everyone but pat boone

its really damned cool reading what musicians have to say about music man, thanks.

hey, how's replayTV anyway? is it really as good as a Satellite/Cable connection live or does it fuzz out (like a VCR does)?

carlo.

I love Norah Jones' cd and she does look very good (sometimes at least

). However, i think it would be much better if her music was a little more musical like having a little more instruments playing in the background. Just my opinion and many of you probably disagree.

Personally, I think having two women make out on stage, like on your Avatar Pepsione1, or better yet, on top of her piano, would make things just a little bit better too.

Come Away With Me was a better performance than Don't Know Why, IMHO (first time I've ever used that acronym). BTW, who's the new gal in the background -- and is she just playing keyboards? Never saw them live, so maybe she tours with them normally -- but on all TV appearances I've never seen her.

Quite a voice she has. A friend of mine recently made the Alana Davis similarity statement, and I agreed; but came back with the fact that Norah has more subtleness on the soft side and more punch on the soul side, as well as more focus on her individual voice (during the verses) rather than harmonies, and (might as well run-on-and-on) Norah has a better band with her.

BTW, have they always called it the Norah Jones Band? Seems like the opposite of The Story, becoming Jonatha Brooke and the Story, to just, Jonatha Brooke. Next thing you know it'll be Norah Jones & The Gang, doing a bluesey version of Celebration

.

By the way, if Norah's drummer ever wants to retire early, all you gotta do is just send me a PM, brother.

I TiVo'ed the show. I watched it on Sunday (yesterday). When I listened to "Don't know why" the first time, I thought it's a little bit awkward about the re-arrangement, but when I listened to it the 2nd time, I thought it's fine. Come away with me was a great performance. I also watched her in Jay Leno, and I'm more impressed by her performance in SNL.

I too thought that this SNL show's not funny at all. I ended up fast forward a large part of it.

Hey guys, I love Norah Jones, as a singer that is
biggrin.gif
. Anyhow, isn't there a way for me to get these two SNL performed songs. I sure would like to hear Don't Know Why re-arranged.

Anyhow... I am open to suggestions, I searched the usual suspects and didn't find anything (WinMX, etc).

Best regards,
