I've been lurking and researching on the forums for a few days, but I think it's time to consult the experts directly.
I know this question has been asked before, but is there such a think as a budget iem that has a similar sound (and particularly soundstage) to the Koss ksc75? I recently got the the 75s, and I LOVE the sound. I can't believe they only cost $15. However, there are times where I would prefer the inconspicuousness and sound isolation of an iem. I realize that the on ear, open back design contributes greatly to the sense of soundstage, but I'm wondering if the technology had advanced to a level where this could be at least partly replicated in an iem? Being a noob, I have very little to compare to. The phones I've been using (but not really regularly) for years are the Creative ep630. They're ok, I guess, but for me the Koss absolutely blew them away. Not fully understanding all the lingo about sound signatures and such, I struggle to define what it is I like about the Koss phones. Light, airy, expansive...big soundstage, perhaps? I also got some Panasonic 120s as inexpensive gifts, and I've listened to them a bit. The sound of the Creatives is richer, but they don't sound bad for being almost free.
Even if I can't achieve the openness of the Koss sound, which budget iems come close, or have a similar sound? I could spend up to $50, but cheaper is better.
Right now I'm considering the Vsonic GR06 Base Edition (which seems immensely popular on these forums) and the Soundmagic E10. I listen to all different kinds of genres, with the exception of rap, metal, and punk. I'd say I'm particularly fond of electronica (especially ambient and trance), jazz, classical, acoustic, worldbeat...the list goes on and on. Thoughts?
