I just placed an order for some Senn HD595s. They are the 50 ohm version (or so it said). That load can easily be driven by my stereo (Yamaha something or other) headphone out jack. My question is this:

Even though these are somewhat low impedance cans, will I 'get more' out of them if I use an amp (like the LDM+) rather than the phones out jack?

I currently have HD515s and HD280 Pro and both sound like $hit.

THANKS!

Yes, a headphone amp will get more out of the phones. It's not to do with whether an amp circuit can produce enough gain to operate the headphone drivers; it's got to do with how it handles the signal at each point in the signal path.
