My friend has the M-audio Delta 1010 as seen here.

I was wondering how good the card is compared to something else such as the M-audio Audiophile 2496 as seen here.

I realise the price of the two are ridiculously different, but I assume you are paying alot for the mixing box.

I'm going to be using the DAC for my D2000s and I'm still debating which amp to get, (considering the Little Dot MKII at the moment), but I was wondering if these are good cards to go with for the DAC source?? Or is there something better for the audiophile 2496 ($100-150) price range?

I've also heard the EMU 0404 is a good card for DAC?

Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I'm really just looking for a good Dac that just has RCA outputs to go to a Little Dot.

Also.. Does it make a big difference being a soundcard vs external DAC?

In my opinion, an external USB DAC will likely yield better results than an internal sound card. But they're also unlikely to support the higher res formats. I haven't encountered a lot of 24 bit stuff myself as I usually rip from 16bit/44.1 khz CDs, but maybe you've got a plentiful source of 24 bit/192 khz audio.

The KingRex UD-01 meets your budget:

If you're willing to recharge batteries, the iBasso D3 Python is probably a better DAC and it has a line out function (you'll need a line out to RCA adapter):

It's not just about DAC chips, it's also about output stage, power supply, implementation, etc.
