Okay bear with me on this, I am very new to the headphone game, as in I just bought my first pair of headphones. I went with the custom one pros because I liked the reviews of it and the customizable bass.

Anyways I bought some off amazon for $115, said like new and came with original boxing and packaging, could of been refurbished idk. I really enjoy them so far (I know I have to burn them in) and plan on getting a portable amp.

My question is, I am running them only through my iPhone 5, and they don't seem too loud, I can have them on all the way up and and it not be discomforting at all. Could this just be because the iPhone can't power it to its full potential?
Next question is about the bass. The bass (all the way up) sounds awesome and excellent, but this too sounds a bit under powered from looking at the reviews. Some even compared the bass to beats by dre bass. I listened to those and the bass was crazy loud and actually probably too loud.i was expecting a little more bass from the custom one pros. I was wondering if this has to do with the iPhone powering it? will it get better with burn in? Or did I just misread the reviews in regards to bass?

Thanks a bunch, it might not sound like it but I am very pleased with these headphones, very clear and comfortable.

It may have to do something with the iPhone. But the iPhone definatley can't power it. Get a FiiO E11 and put EQ to 1 or 2 for more bass. I love my FiiO E11.

I would have assumed the iPhone 5 could easily power the Beyer COPs?
(but what do i know).

Thanks for the help. Question about the e11. Will it work with a iPhone 5? It looks like the in input to the amp connects to the iPhone battery port. Does it have to connect through there or can it be a male-to-male jack from the iPhone headphone jack to the amp "in" input?

They can power them, I just wasn't expecting to be able to turn the volume all the way up on the iPhone and still be able to listen at a comfortable level, but I could be wrong. I also expected a more "thumping bass". Like I said I'm very new to headphones as i am comparing the bass of the COPs to beats I listened to at best buy.

A 3.5mm male to male cable will connect the iPhone 5's headphone jack to the line-input on the Fiio E11
and will work.

I had the iphone 5 i found the music player a load of tosh tbh, it's volume was so low for most of my headphones and it made them sound rubbish. I have the 4s and they power my beyers perfectly i think it could be the iphone 5 i personally think it is a downgrade in terms of music everything sounded so quiet.

Thanks, I think you just made up mind. I'm gonna go with the fiio e11. Really appreciate all the help guys, good forum community here

Also I just tried my stock iPhone 5 earbuds and they play a good bit louder (hurts) then my COPs do through the iPhone. Would that be normal?

Yes, the stock iPhone 5 earbuds are much easier to drive. I am very interested in trying the COP's after everybody is talking about it! Jeez, this hobby.
