Sorry...I just found out what DAC meant...and want to know what is the best source of various types that you can buy.

I really dont know what Im looking for because I dont know what there is available.

Best source for $150. The Oppo DV-970HD. It's no giant killer, but for $150 it does amazingly well with all silver discs.

How good is it?

I purchased one at retail. (For my bedroom system)

The Oppo DV-970HD DVD player was the first thing that came to my mind, too... It's almost exactly $150. If you like using your computer as a source, the E-MU 1212M is recommended at that price point.
