Never say never - if Drew from Moon Audio could Cardas Cable his KSC-35s, then why not recable the portapros, eh?

Aww, those are so cute! Way to go Drew! The portas and the 35s both have that little plastic retaining piece over the terminals that looks like it would be a pain to get off since they are glued in. I briefly considered the task with my portas but I didn't want to inadvertently destroy them trying to yank off that glued piece

this is exactly what i wanted to see. the cool factor is up there with those low line SONY MDR's with the twisted silver cable and XLR's for each channel. this koss has the same housing as the portaPro's. I might just have to risk mine (hey they were $38). i have some nice matching blue (almost a spot on match) silver coated copper teflon wire...i need to make something of it and my portaPro's. plus I would actually like a longer cord for them. for my daily use of them, the cord keeps getting sangged.

awesome guys!

other examples I saw in the DIY Cable:

This one is too good:

This was what I was trying to get at. Just 4 or 6 (litz braid) small guage wires (24+), possibly techflex below the Y, and a stereo mini.

Heh...that's my $4.50 recable of my KSC55. I just wanted to shorten the cable but didn't want to fuss with the original enameled wires, so I replaced them with some cheap speaker wire that I twisted and braided.

Regarding the small clips over the wire terminals on the drivers:

Mine just popped right off. They have two small alignment pegs that are pressed into a matching pair of holes on the drivers. I left them off after the recable.

do you remove the 'box' on the back of the housing, or did you remove the foam and go at it from the driver side?

Now who's going to be the first to recable apple earbuds?
