So sad to hear about someone so young being addicted to this hobby. One thing to look forward to is that the cardboard box that you'll be living in when you're 60 will be outfitted with a stunning collection of headphones.

True, but its not like you can't sell most of these items for a high amount of resale, especially if you buy things used.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

It's his money, don't tell him what he can and can not spend it on.

It was a joke!! I spent almost $700 on headphone stuff last month alone! My cardboard box is already so stuffed there's no room for me!

Sorry about that!

You'll get there :p We all got there eventually XD Between early December and now, I think I've spent $2000 on headphones and related items. Of course, it doesn't happen every month, but when it does, it's big XD

Kinda hope I don't get there XD
I definitely need to give some end-game headphones a listen so I know what I wanna pinch my pennies for, though.  I'm thinking it might end up being the HD-700 or HD-800 since I fell in love with the Sennheiser house sound.

I don't think Sennheiser have a specific house sound, unlike AKG or Beyerdynamic. The character of the HD800 differs greatly from the HD6x0.

Well I'm definitely not set on any pair.  I wanna make it to a meet or two and see if I can give a few different end-game cans from plenty of different brands.  Too bad there don't seem to be any all too close to me.

I second this. Many of their headphones have such varying sound signatures its hard to predict what their next one will sound like

BTW I have been looking at open headphones like the sennheiser HD518. are those the best for the price? Or is something like the Grado SR80e or ATH-AD700X better?

HD800 is an exception to the Sennheiser house sound...

HD558, HD598, HD600, and HD650 all have what is known as the "Sennheiser Veil" and in general are laid back sounding.

EDIT: Also, Senny has made some headphones for the consumer market like the Urbanite that don't have it. Their open backs all have generally had it though except the HD800. (haven't tried the HD700 so I dunno about that one.)

Yeah I heard about the sennheiser veil. Was mentioned in many reviews of the HD 598.
