Sadly I have it but from not realizing something was too loud til it was too late, so now I hear that huming sound the old tvs made, most times i can ignore it, where other times i notice it. While loosing some high freq from my left ear, tho i had a ear test and my left ear was bit better then my right ear. I just cant hear that tuning folk in my left ear.

I can hear that low pitch humming from young too..

Not sure if it's tinnitus..

Honestly, I don't think that the 7506 has "huge" bass. It's actually pretty fine, although the soundstage leaves much to be desired IMO. But I never knew the UE6K has basshead-friendly bass. That made me LOL when I finally found out the contradiction.

I'm a UE6000 owner so I'm going to chime in a little. They're pretty smooth sounding with rolled off highs (not too much though) without the ANC turned on. And that's the pasrt thats most important. Turn that switch to on and boom. A metric crap tonne (at least imo) of bass and more treble. With it turned on, they certainly are basshead friendly. A little too friendly lol.

Also, to Dischord, I wouldn't recommend the UE4/6/9000 to anyone anymore. They've been discountinued last I heard and for any normal person that means they may be a pain in the ass to find.

+1 to that. There are still a lot of headphones up the price ladder that do well with phones. The $400 Beats Pro is a good example. Or the $300 Momentum to add more sense to it. But I kinda forgot the $500+ headphones that work well as portable cans. Oh, wait, the T5p – a kilobuck portable can.
and akg k812's... The king of cans that can be driven by a smartphone imo... Although, some people on here seem to listen to music too loud to use an open back can in a quiet environment, and call people who use them in public stupid... I can use my cans just fine and not bother others. Actually, people with beats bother others more than I do with their music.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0094S360U/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1401150679&sr=8-2&pi=SL75 there seems to be 48 UE4000's for sale from 22$-34$, and http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0094S36RI/ref=s9_simh_awgw_d0_g23_i0/188-9020999-1079041?aid=aw_gw&apid=1678137742&arc=1201&arid=0BF6XBQN037GXTYWSQZ3&asn=center-6&pf_rd_i=aw_gw&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=1678137742&pf_rd_r=0BF6XBQN037GXTYWSQZ3&pf_rd_s=center-6&pf_rd_t=1201 68 Logitech UE6000 for 40$-95$. And, that's not exactly a metric crap ton of bass. Its 8db boost at 60hz-80hz. While that may be good for regular bassheads, its not deep enough, nor strong enough for extreme bassheads.

Not that, open back headphones allow external noise to come in and that is not something we wanted while in the public and, if you have the time, do try to listen to a pair of Grado.

yeah, I meant a quiet public environment... And, on the bus, I can turn it way up and not bother anyone, so I'm okay using it as a portable. I'll have to try a Grado sometime... Do they have any cheaper ones with a detachable cable? I've seen one of their 1200$ models for sale in my area on Craigslist. :-/ I believe it was rs-1?

I prefer in-ears when I'm out.

Grado SR60. I don't recall Grado making detachable cable probably a DIY MOD.

Haven't seen them here in the Apple store or Future Shop (maybe I'm not looking hard enough?). Online purchasing completely missed my mind there. I forgot about it, since I would never spend $100+ on headphones I've never heard online (I did buy a 2nd pair of the UE6000 for $80 during the holidays, but that doesn't count

Interesting discussion this... I've packed my bags for a week's vacation. I was looking at my HPs and chose the V-Moda XS. I could take my LCD-XC but the portability factor won out.
just bring both.

the RS-1 is about $600, maybe the PS1000 or the GS1000?
