She'd prefer anything made in metal, leather and wood over plastics
Me too!
"So uhh, are they better than beats or what?"

Well she is not an audiophile by any means, but she values a good combination of quality and design. She'd prefer anything made in metal, leather and wood over plastics so she absolutely hates the plastic Beats and Bose. K240 sounded nice to her but the plastic body was a huge minis.
Anyway, MOE did sound dark to us, as we thought K550 would be standard, and ATH EW9 was on the bright side. The main minus of MOE was the deep V curve.
The Momentum over-ear version is tons better than it's little brother, and very much worth the extra cost. You/she should buy her one of those.
I can't get my fiancee interested in audio the slightest. I let her use my Momentums/HD 598 when she's listening to music or watching Netflix while I'm sleeping, but she doesn't seem to notice much difference between them and her crappy laptop speakers/age-old Nokia earbuds.
I feel ya brother in every way. Ever had that awkwardish moment when you go get ear impressions done for Ciem's and the secratary being (both times with me) asks what instrument do you play and I respond " naw I just like good sounding music and am willing to pay for it" both times I get looked at like im insane when I tell them what I paid for them to get done -_- IMO I love the authenticity of the physical copy of a CD you really know your going to enjoy. It actually makes me smile inside when people look at me weird bcause I carry something people regard as a useless piece of expensive technology. Although that might be because in actuality I've never been one to want to be like the rest. My bit on Beats well lets just say that for the same price theres much better quality and I'll leave it at that. Furthermore noise-canceling versus noise isolation. I too used to think it was better than the latter but given the right environments and headphones/iems isolation will shine with more details although minor they are there. I had to prove that to myself. The other day someone saw a CD on my desk and said "You actually buy CD's?" I explained that I prefer to rip them lossless. She proceeded to ask if I could hear a difference and I said in some cases, for sure. She asked if I played an instrument. When I said no, she replied "I'd be more inclined to believe you if you did." I gave up. She is an intern who started 2 days ago. I was a bit thrown back to be talked to like that by someone nearly half my age who I just met.
I had to hide my amp at work. I got tired of people asking me what it was and shaking their heads that I have an amp for my headphones. I get called an "audio snob" for not just ripping at 128 or 256 and buying everything from iTunes. I said I couldn't stand satellite radio because it sounds like crap and was again called an audio snob. Sigh.
I have a store within 1 hour of public transport that have a Stax SR009 and a Lambda for demo.
They should have the universal versions for the various 1964ears IEMs in soon for demo too.
It's just sad that there's no Westone and Ultimate Ears distributor over at my country..
AV ONE is selling westone ciems iirc

Thanks for the advice! Actually I share my gear with my gf and I have a pair of Momentum. However she does want to own her very pair of serious cans, and after some days of wearing my Momentum, she decided that though good-looking, they are just too bulky for her (she is tiny). Though when we watch movies and stuff together, we would daisy-chain our headphones and she usually happily picks my Momentum for this use, and I'm more than happy to let her do so.

I go out a lot with my Beats Studio that my dad bought me a few months ago and I absolutely love them. And it has noise cancelling so I can listen to it in the tube and in the bus every where.
Then today in class there was this dork from my physics class came up to me shoving his headphones to my face. I don't know what those beats knockoffs were, I think they were some YKG? AGG? or something. Tried them on and they sounded horrible. No bass at all. I can't even hear my ears rumbling and I can hear everyone around me laughing at the dorky headphones through the headphones. I know right? So weird, headphones are supposed to block out other sounds but I don't know what these beats knockoffs are supposed to do.
Then I gave him my Beats and let him listen for a while. His face totally changed and he was quiet for a while. I asked him if he ever had listened to them but he didn't hear me of course because of the superior noise cancelling technology from Beats. When he finally took it off, from the look of things I can see that he regrets buying that Beats knockoff. He told me I should ditch the Beats and get some 'real' headphones like his. And then he mentioned some other brands that sounded weird and cheap.
Dude come on man, I want to listen to my Beats, you don't have to preach about headphones to me 24/7.
It turns out everyone at school knows him as that weird kid who shoves his headphones to other people's faces. Especially Beats owners like me.
Stop being weird.
Woah, calm down there. You'll give someone a heart attack with that kind of talk on here lol.
