With a $50 rebate on Creative's site for the NJB3 (20GB), I'm leaning heavily towards the NJB3.. but before I buy it, I guess I want to know what I'm in for :p So here's a list of questions that I couldn't get answered from reading around:

Nomadness's has a guide to upgrade the hard drive within the NBJB3, how much extra am I looking to spend for a good hard drive? (I saw them for about $200-$300.. would it be better just to buy the 40GB or even the 60GB (Saw it on some sites))

Does the NBJB3 show up as a removable drive when you plug it into the PC? If not, then is there alternate software to load MP3s into the player (Creative's software kind of stinks, I don't like my Audigy 2 Plaintum EX software/drivers.. it pops sometimes and might effect the music I transfer over [EAX enhancement])

Can you store non music files on it?

What is the color of the backlight?

Nomadness users complain about the wheel sometimes not working well, is this common?

Is there a way to enable the FM capabilitie swithout forking out $70 for the remote?

Does it recharge with just the AC adapter or do I need the docking station?

Where do I get an extended warranty on the NJB3 or should I not worry about it (it's that reliable)?

Hmm.. I think that'sit :p Tossing around ~$400 is a lot for an mp3 player (Nomad + FM + Extra battery) ...

Buy a 60gb bare drive for about $160 from a vendor on www.pricewatch.com. then, sell the 20gb drive you extract on ebay. I got about $65 for mine a few months ago

No. It needs Creative drivers to be seen by a PC. However you can load it on any PC and upload/download music to the player, no restrictions

Can you store non music files on it?

Yes

What is the color of the backlight?

Blue or Green, you can select it in the menu

No problems on my Nomad 3 or my Zen

No, the FM reciever is in the remote. Personally, I had the remote and never used it so I sold it.

Does it recharge with just the AC adapter or do I need the docking station?

Just the AC adapter. Docking station is no longer in production or for sale. Rare, actually.

Where do I get an extended warranty on the NJB3 or should I not worry about it (it's that reliable)?

Warranties are not usually a good idea. Some bean counter has allready done the math that more people than not will actually use the warrantee, which is why they sell it, to make a profit.

One other word of advice, buy a 2nd battery, its nice having 20+ hours runtime. I got one used for $25 (they are $40-50 new) Also, using a small portable amp from the Line-Out, is good for increased fidelity. Most mp3 players do not have line-out but the NJB3 actually has 2 line-out ports. good stuff.

So I just need the drivers and not software to transfer the files over? Can you see the non-music data in the menu system or is it tucked away like in the iPod?

Is the remote really flimsy? I heard it was "cheap plastic" and 70 bucks for a crappy remote is kind of lame. I'd figure it would be handy if I took the Nomad for a ride in a backpack or something.

Thanks for all the help
