I am quite happy with my N97 headphone out, it sounds good with my favourite universal (CK100) and my just-arrived UE18 Pro, better than N96 and any mobile phone I previously owned.

Thinking about switching to the Nokia X6 recently - can anyone who got an X6 with previous experience on the N97 give me some insight on the SQ comparison of these two? Many thanks!

SQ wise they are identical. I see no reason to switch to x6 which has exactly the same outdated arm11 processor that is used in n97/5800. If you want an upgrade consider n900.

I have a Nokia X6, a Sansa Clip+ and a Kenwood HD60. I'd say that the X6 holds up really nicely against these Mp3 players, warm sound with good stereo separation. Of course, the biggest drawback is the volume settings limited from 0 to 10, but all in all, if you don't feel like taking your Mp3 player with you for a quick errand or if there's a time when you just don't wanna carry all that much around with you, you certainly won't be whining about leaving the Mp3 player at home...

+1

Not to mention Nokia still hasn't decided to give their S60v5 devices enough RAM. If the N900 was compatible with 850/1900 UMTS, I'd be all over it -

Yep, later in the year or in early 2011 I'll be ready for something with a snappier processor and an updated Symbian OS. But I'll stick with S60 because it's more "phone" oriented than Maemo. (As well as phone sized...the N900 is a great device but quite a brick!)
