Just purchased the Onkyo DP-X1 and it'll be my main DAP for my 2 year K10's (which still sound as great as ever)
 
now i'm thinking of getting a balanced cable to match the setup above, any recommendations?

Congrats, rave reviews on the Onkyo thread. Everyone recommends balanced, so make sure you get one ASAP. I'm also eyeing this DAP as my secondary streaming player so am looking forward to your impressions. Any comparisons with other DAPs would be great too.

Ooooh! I really want to check one out, been reading the forum! Finally looks like a killer DAP that will put those criminals at AK in their place, a $700ish DAP that puts their $3500 in its place!

There's already a killer DAP that shames the AK's - the Questyle QP1R (bit priceier than the Onkyo though at $899 USD).
 
It's part of my endgame portable kit - that'll be complete with the order of a K10UA in celebration of my 50th later in the year.

I will say this, as a kid growing up, owning anything made by onkyo was an aspiration

Agreed, as a kid, Onkyo was some amazing electronics. Loved their receivers and speakers.

Learning rules on the fly is an uncfortable process, so id rather avoid any potential sticky situation
