AK240 work with the BTS?  I have never used bluetooth on my daps.

Yes, and the AK240 has aptX as well I believe.

Now I really am confused. I assumed that any processing would be within the DAP before it sent the signal to the BTS.

Perhaps there is some room for variation on the DAP side of things, but the signal is still very much digital when it hits BTS.

Just a heads-up, there's been an aptX / bluetooth thread on head-fi since 2012:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/601665/what-are-head-fi-members-views-on-apt-x-lossless-codec-over-bluetooth

It's not a long read (only 12 pages), but might still answer some questions for those interested.

Edit: almost forgot ljokerl's excellent article on the subject:

Thanks for the links, really helped to clear things up for me. Bummer that the iphone doesn't support the aptX codec. No surprise I guess

Just because the iPhone doesn't have aptX, doesn't mean the iPhone isn't compatible with BTS. It is compatible and instead of using aptX the BTS will default to 4.0.

Well, the good news is that the chip used in the BTS (CSR8645) not only supports aptX, but also Apple's AAC codec over bluetooth.

Which means, it won't default to the inferior SBC (subband codec) and iPhone users should get similar sound quality to aptX.

Great Wizard design, as usual.
A couple of questions:
Will there be a version of BTS without the cable? I want to use it with the long cable so don't need the shorter one.
Any further info on the Noble 1? Please link if (when) there is. Also for the noble gallery (forgot the name).

Keep up the great work!!

Brannan - If one is interested in the Noble BTS is there any benefit and/or difference between pre-ordering on the Noble site versus at the show this weekend? Cheers and see you in a few days!

We will make note of these updates when they are ready. As far as offering BTS without a cable, we have no plans to do so at this time.
