Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Is that a sarcastic comment? I am not sure. I am genuinely looking for inputs. Consider me uneducated.

    Nope, Sony 1Z DAP is.

Not sarcasm, I use one myself.

Or the 2000 if you want to carry one as a weapon.

Try the Cayin N8. It is big, but I and many feel it is a step above the A&K.
Try a few to see what you like in ergonomics though. The TOTL Daps are all big. You might want something smaller. Believe it or not, the Audioquest Dragonflies work extremely well and are very mobile. I use the red. They also just came out with a new one. The N8 is better, but much larger. Tks.

Bigger screen on the AK, better battery life on the AK, better looking for the AK. Sound is objective and I wont lie, I have not heard the Cayin. I do think its kind of ugly also, the big copper SP1000 is gorgeous. The UI on AK players are also great, one reason why I ended up liking them so much from my first time trying one.

Once again incorrect Mr. Gump! Ha!
The Cayin N8 sounds better then the SP 1000. It can run in tube or solid state mode and both are fabulous. Also, it has a larger battery which it uses for power vs longevity. If you have hard to drive headphones, the N8 easily handles them as well as IEM’s.
I feel the N8 looks better, especially the Brass Black model, but I like the Stainless Steel version as well. The AK does have a better interface, but it was not worth the drop in sound quality to me. The SP1000 also has a wobbly volume control which does not match its high price. Do a direct comparison, especially in tube mode, and listen for yourself. Try the N8 with your Kahn and let me know your thoughts. Tks.

What am I wrong about? The larger battery does not equate to longer life, the SP1000 is rated at 12 hours. The Cayin is rated at 9.5 tops, I never said the AK sounds better since I have not heard the Cayin.

I question whether these DAP's sound significantly better than an iPhone.

Okay, the black one does look really good.

There is really no question. I’ve only become more and more convinced over time that source (ie DAC and to a lesser extent for IEMs amp) is everything.

Your expensive Noble IEMs can only transmit what the DAC is feeding them. Garbage in, garbage out.

I recently switched from a Mojo to an AK SP 1000M, and the difference is amazing. And the AK is still completely left in the dust by my home system.

    Definitely better.
iPhone is for answering voice message and watching short movies on the go.
DAP is for listening ultimate music days or night.

Phones are for texting while driving, or watching videos and walking into street signs, or bumping into people.
