If someone didn't notice their ear being burned in an oven I would be slightly....confused....

Yeah that damage is definitely poor connector handling, user error.

Thank you for the follow up I think it is an issue with my phone. I am going to check on my wife's phone when i get home.

I think that I had the pleasure of meeting your brother and his wife at axpona. Great people and watagump is one hell of a sales person too.

I don't have any of that equipment, but I can tell you that I have had similar issues with iems and headphones over the years. In each case, it was always due to having a protective case on my phone that interfered with inserting any headphone or iem cable. If you have your cell phone in a case, try taking off the case and see if that helps. Some case design just make it hard to insert the plug properly.

So 6+ Khans having the same issue is all user error?

  7. FullCircle
6 is really a small number compared to the number that has been shipped out.

There has been around 1k massdrop k10s sold, I wouldnt be surprised if we have replaced 100+ sockets.

That said, if there is an issue we certainly will resolve the matter as expeditiously as possible.

Could be. We are talking about a company that distributes a large numbers of IEMs. Think in terms of statistics, not absolute values.

Fun Fact: People neglecting to take statistics into account, and instead thinking in absolute terms, are essentially the cause of tension in todays world.

Also, conservation of energy is a thing. The energy output of a DAP is nowhere near enough to reach 150 C continuous at the pins and melt them lol. (To be specific, the battery itself may have enough energy, the the audio jack? Nah)

Work in progress, looks excellent! Urushi lacquer??

Also, this probably goes without saying since you guys are experts, but if you use power tools to cut the abalone, please make sure there is sufficient ventilation. Silicosis is a nasty thing

The abalone is pre cut into tiny chips

So small u can break them into workable pieces etc etc

But in the earlier days I did cut abalone and thanks for the heads up.

Ah good to hear. I probably am coming off as a prick, trying to tell people how to live their lives haha, but safety is worth it (read lotsa stories....lungs + dust = very bad times, be the dust from carbon fiber, exotic wood, snail shell, minerals, mold spores etc etc)

Looking forward to your future creations :)

I’m most certainly taking statistics into account here. If 6 Massdrop K10s had this issue, I wouldn’t bat an eye. The Khan just started shipping last month(?), and within a couple weeks of people getting them, you’re seeing a number of issues pop up. Noble obviously agrees that this is an issue, since they’re upgrading the sockets lol (which is good)

Fun Fact: They just started selling the second batch of Khans in Korea, but from the first batch (let’s say a MOQ of 10), at least two have had messed up sockets (~20%), and another 5-6 have been sold/listed for sale (~50%). People are selling them for 40+% off local MSRP, and nobody’s touching them.

It’s a shame, since while it may not be for everyone, I think the Khan is an excellent IEM in terms of sound quality, and it was the one I was most looking forward to getting. It’s just that it seemingly comes with a lot of extra baggage, whether it’s the noise issues or build quality concerns.

I see you with the numbers backing up your claims, I wish more people did that. Respect. I actually have no counter, you provided solid evidence that I asked about...

Fun Fact: At least Noble didn't say.....release a folding phone that has screen failure within one week of ownership.....to give a hypothetical example. :)

I guess manufacturing defects will always happen, the important thing is the company's response

Honestly, I'm glad Noble's being proactive about the 2-pin sockets though. Whether or not I personally end up getting one (looking at getting an IEM at the end of the year), I do want them to do well in Korea.
