With all this discussion about customs being right, I've had no end of issues getting some done. Been to two different audiologists and tried a few companies (who I won't name in this thread out of respect, they've all tried their hardest with at least a couple of refits free each and still no luck). Had some custom tips done for some iems and they seem to fit all right so it seems that something is throwing it out in the concha area of the ear and not the canal part. Strange, but that about sums me up. One of the reasons I haven't tried Noble, couldn't bear the wait time and find I need a refit.
I am pretty sure the other guys you have tried are perfectly capable of getting a proper fit, so most likely Noble wouldn't be any better in that aspect. So all you are really missing is a possible sound that you prefer, along with arguably the best looking CIEM's on the planet. But no one cares about pretty shells, or so I have read.

I hear you on the fit issues. I had endless problems with custom tips. Got it right in the end. Had one adjustment done on my K10's. I have never experienced them disappearing as people say but they are perfectly tolerable. It may take a lot of perseverance but in the end it is worth it. The audiologist who takes the impressions is key. I was very lucky that a Noble partner lived near me in London and is excellent. Yep, we've had this conversation before I think. Whilst I would love to get on the train and pop up to get some done there, by the time you add the cost of the train fare in (which wouldn't be cheap) it's a bit of a nonstarter for me. I still think some of the issue is down to the fact that I had to have a replacement bridge unit for my three front teeth that got knocked out in an accident (and if you think ciems are expensive, check dental bills some time!)and it's that that has been throwing off the impressions somehow. Have wondered about going for a closed mouth impression but not sure I can be bothered right now!

Yes I remember that conversation. I suggest it is maybe worth having a conversation on the phone with Giselle. Although maybe CIEMs are not a priority for you at the moment. I know all about the dental charges. I need three implants.I

Looking for a recommendation... I recently got the Savants and I like them so much I even sold my Andromedas. Though the Andromeda are technically "better" in terms of resolution, imaging and air, I just found that after listening to the Savants for about a week and getting used to it, going back to the Andromeda I found the music too packed in and forward, seeming somewhat less coherent. There were great cues for the soundstage but the main drive was so close up in my face.. I think that coming from preference for the sound of speakers, even though the Savants weren't as "clear", I found them more natural and with a more coherent presentation.... Hard to describe this and not something I truly though or "wished" would happen (I thought I was happy with the Andromedas and was just looking for something mid-fi to use out of the house). So anyway, with the Andromedas sold I now find myself trying to decide if I would prefer the Encores or the Katanas. Are either of them the "direct" upgrade from the Savant, if you know what I mean?
These days my musical preferences are in the classical-crossover/electronic genres, like Olafur Arnalds, Max Richter, Johann Johannssen, Hildur Guonadottir, Nils Frahm, John Hopkins..
I just have to add that as a maker of Japanese style swords and as a practitioner of Iaido the Katanas appeal to me in a silly kind of way. The fact that most of my listening is done while working on the swords with the endless hours of polishing adds to that. Ha...
Most of the reviews I've read suggest to me that the Katana would be my preference as I like that speaker sound and really favour a precise and large soundstage with excellent imaging and air around the instruments. I like the "visual field" illusion and being a few rows back over something that drives hard or puts you on stage with the performance. But the review of the Encores make them sound fantastic too... There's no way for me to try them..
Any recommendations, particularly if you like the same kind of music would be appreciated..
Thanks
PS.. my source is an AK300

The Savant is a legend, if it wasn't difficult to build, I would still have on the menu. But if you like the sound characteristics of the Savant, speed, with a mixture of soul and passion....
then go with the master
Also, the Katana is physically smaller than the Encore, which I would think would allow for extended listening sessions in comfort.

Oh god, one more song that I got thoroughly sick of thanks to nigh on near permanent rotation on the radio when I was at school

Thanks!! I forgot about the comfort... my Savants are the “wizard” edition and are the most comfortable iems I’ve ever worn. I can listen for hours without any discomfort and they just disappear.

Back to the Bell, my K10 are once again going travelling. Good thing I really enjoy the Bell. My K10's have traveled more than I have, I have only flown twice in my 54 years on the planet.
