Nintendo DS

I'd actually recommend against Phantom Hourglass unless you're a devout fan. In fact, I'd recommend against getting the DS unless you really need a portable and adore simple/casual games. (I've actually stopped playing mine since the deeper titles are few and far between) That said, New Mario Bros., Sonic Adventure, Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, and Kirby's Squeak Squad are some good titles. Mario Kart is only fun if you have someone else to play with, the single-player is boring as hell.

Yeah, you're better getting a home console. Although, I'd be wary of the wii as well, the best games are mostly nintendo sequels. Not a problem if you uh.. love nintendo sequels. If you want variety, you may want to consider a 360 or PS3 (if you don't have them already).

Here's a site that has really good video reviews from all the different consoles: Gametrailers.com - Video Game Reviews, Game Trailers Reviews

the tv i use for gaming is an old tube TV from the late 80's, so i don't know how much i'd benefit from the enhanced graphics. i don't really play enough to warrant spending the money on the 360/ps3.

i don't buy/play more than 1, maybe 2 games at once, so a relatively limited library isn't too much of a concern for me.

looks like it's the Wii for mii.

now the problem is finding one.

Hmmm I play DS all the time, even at home where I have wii and ps3. But then again, I have lot of people to play DS with so yeah... And I highly recommend R4.

As much as I love Wii, it really depends on what kinda games you prefer as Kirosia mentioned. Wii is definitely fun if you have lot of people to play with. But if you are playing by yourself, games are pretty limited. I mean there are amazing single player games like Mario Galaxy and Zelda and I'm a hardcore Nintendo/Mario/Zelda fan so Wii is great for me but I know there are lot of people out there that don't like Mario/Zelda series and those people quickly got bored of Wii after the novelty wore off and people stopped coming over to play Wii. If you like action/sports/fps type games, I'd go for 360 or ps3.

I like the DS for it's portability. I play it in bed before I go to sleep or on long trips. I don't play it in the middle of the day very often. Advanced Wars: Duel Strike is good if you like strategy. If you like story driven games Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney is really good. A game about being an attorney sounds weird but it works. Pokemon is surprisingly good for a kids game and Phantom Hour glass is also a fun kids game. Of course there are plenty of puzzle games as well. My wife and I play Mario Kart against each other sometimes. It's always good for starting a fight.

the DS has served me well, and i love it, it was money well spent,

the wii on the other hand, i found that playing solo on the wii not alot of fun, the wii is only fun if you have people to play with, but alone, its not alot of fun, i regret buying the wii

It would be a much better game if half the songs weren't complete ****.

I don't like Phantom Hourglass its too simple and most of the game it feels like I'm playing just to beat the game. (First Zelda game I've ever played by the way)

I recommend Pokemon if you want a time consuming RPG thats pretty fun to play.
