I picked up one of their albums the other day -- Wishmaster. I like it a lot. Does anyone have suggestions for which of their albums to get next? Perhaps mini-reviews?

My vote goes to "Angels Fall First", simply because it's the only other album of their's besides "Wishmaster" that I have. Don't think it's quite as good overall as "Wishmaster", but it is still quite good. Hopefully others will jump in, as I'm also curious which album after these two I should buy next.

OK, here's he scoop. Nightwish is a more than excellent band, I think. Wishmaster is their best album. Now, Angels Fall First, is an excellent album also. The first two tracks, Elvenpath and Beauty and the Beast are both more like Wishmaster and Oceanborn. The rest of the tracks are all good, just. . like not as powerful, I suppose. Now Oceanborn, I think you should go with next. It is much more like Wishmaster. VERY EXCELLENT ALBUM. Anyway you should also think about picking up Century Child. That album didnt get much attention. I don't know why. I think it is a great album.

Yep your lucky you started with the best first.

Next get Oceanborn, then Angels Fall First. I didn't really rate Centurys Child cause of the bloody bass players singing. In other words he couldn't. Don't have a problem with the male parts on the other albums (pharoh sails to orion etc) just didn't like his voice. Less of it on the next one please or thats another group that will get ignored by me from now on (like that matters

Oh if you have a dvd player then theres a rather excellent live concert called "from wishes to eternity" available as well. THINK theres an ntsc version available but check.

Cheers...

PS For reviews check out www.musicaldiscoveries.com and do a search on that site. Also do a search on Headfi for "nightwish" and see what comes up

I agree that the bass players voice was not that good, but it was still a great album.

I'll second (third?) Oceanborn.

I'll also mention that anyone who likes Nightwish would also probably like Within Temptation. Specifically, Mother Earth is a fabu album, one of my favourites from that year.
