Hey all! I currently own the ad700's, m50's, has400's and MS1i's. But it has come the point that i need to go up in price to really get some increases in audio quality. The ad700 and m50 are my favourite headphones, although i have only had the MS1i for about 5 hours of listening time so maybe it will surprise me.

What are you suggestions from here? I'm looking around the $300 mark unless the consensus is to spend considerably more, i would be happy to spend ~$800 if they are great for the money. This would be my last purchase until early next year, so they have to play well with the devices below.

Currently watching DT250-80, are they too close to the M-50 for it to be worth it? Should i just get the 250-250 to hear a real improvement? I amp all of my headphones with an E11 and O2 so that's not really an issue for the moment. I have also been eyeing off some 325i's but the reviews are so mixed that it is making me second guess every review.

Any advice is helpful, thanks.
Dave

Hello!

What genre of music do you listen to? Is comfort an issue to you? The Grados are excellent for any type of rocks music and aggressive. Pretty good with classical too. Also, what is it you like about the ATH-AD700 and ATH-M50?

Other headphone you may consider:
Sennheiser Momentum
AKG K550
Sony MDR-1R
PSB M4U1

Hope it helps!

I like all types of music, which is why i have so many differing sound signatures and i am not a fan of having to change cans so something generally good is definitely needed. Obviously the AD700 and M50 sound very different, i love the airiness and detail of the 700's but i prefer the M50 as of right now as i have been loving some hiphop lately as well and needed more bass.

What can you tell me about these other headphones in relation to what i already have?

Thanks heaps.

If you like the airiness of your ATH-AD700, I am afraid the Sennheiser Momentum may not befor you. If you have small head, the AKG K550 may not be for you as well as it's extremely big and if you can't achieve good seal the result is thin sound and rolled off bass but if you happen to get perfect seal, that would be the opposite! Sony MDY-1R may have rolled off bass but there's slight mid bass emphasis which will satisfy hi hop music.

So far, I think the PSB M4U1 will suit you best as 1) deep sub-bass. 2) airy sound 3) neutral makes it suitable fot al genre of music 4) closed. Isolates sound when out and about.
