Does anybody know when the next generation update is due for X5 and X7?

I have a feeling, FiiO might end up sticking with the "M" moniker for their DAP devices moving forward. perhaps adding larger numbers for their "higher end" DAPs.
I dont think they'll continue with the X5 gen 4? X7 Gen 3? seems drawn out for nothing.

Could be. I am wondering if the next "X5/X7 type" device will be launched this year, even if it's named differently because I want to upgrade my X5iii to something with a newer Android flavor and hopefully a faster processor.

I sold my FiiO X5 Gen 3 a while ago because im tired of FiiO and their interface and sound.
I'm currently going to make the switch to an A&K SR15. i just have to wait for my local store to get re-stocked.
