I wonder how different the 8 sounds from the 9. I figured the 8 would be a step down from the 9, but from what little I've come across comparing the two, it seems the 8 is preferred over the 9 by those few who have heard both.

Mine is definitely the HD650. I just charged an Audio-gd Compass so I'm trying hard to resist....

Not sure how long I'll hold out though.

You really can't go wrong with the HD650. Those are long-term keepers for many folks 'round here.

Something along the lines of a better electrostatic I think. The budget one I have is lovely... it can only get better. =)

Maybe an HD650 too, as there seems to be so much love for them around here and I haven't heard any high-end Senns. And maybe something Grado, although I don't like supraural phones much and am too cheap for the big one.
