Just stopped by the Hong Kong High-End Audio Visual Show and tried the engineering sample. The size is very compact and the build quality is decent. There is not much for SQ as it is still under tuning. The UI looks user-friendly but not very responsive, again need some polishing. Also interestingly it has a 2nd black & white screen on top of the machine to some basic information. Also there would be some preset EQ for some big branded earphones to be selected.
People at the booth mentioned it is their flagship, at the tier of iBasso DX200 and would be coming out this year. One big concern tho is that the volume "button" on the right is actually a touch pad, which makes it weird and hard to adjust the volume accurately.
There is a non-workable model of a mid-fi new machine which is coming next.

Looks great, but will it be another Colorfly dap to be left with unfinished firmware like previous C10 and C200... I don't like their software support, C200 was supposed to have dac feature, which never was implemented. Also it has song beginning cut-off issue which also C10 has, what I've read. Also no gapless playback. Quite an issues for music player, I mean if player isn't intended for video, pictures or anything other fancy but just music only, I would assume it should be designed to do that task well. But no. Hopefully they have learnt something from their previous daps and U8 will be more polished and supported dap.

Colorfly needed to fix the firmware on the C10. Song cut off and no usable DAC function. If they go back and fix that, maybe I’d consider this one. Otherwise, Colorfly is off my radar.

Exactly same with C200. Cut offs exists and dac support was never implemented, at least for windows 10. I asked about firmware update via email, reply was basically that there won't be one for C200, so it's hard to believe there will be one for C10 either. Their software support is very lacking.

They never fixed any of their firmware for their past DAPs, so I wouldn’t be so hopeful if I were you. They just let all the old Colorfly products in a state of frustrating limbo. Thumbs down to Colorfly.

If I am not mistaken the older DAPs came under different management which subsequently left to form Xi Audio among other things. This is the first DAP under their new "management" using Android so I do hope that means more attention to the firmware. I still have the old C4 Pro and C10, the C4 Pro is still bossing things on my table.

I was listening to it for about 20-30 mins. Great dap in terms of sound quality and size(weight and dimensions).
But
-no streaming services support,
-no wireless dac support(it does have bt and WiFi) for streaming
-such bad support.

I won’t pay 1200 for this dap. But I wanted...
