Hello all
I just joined this community and want to get started listening to my music in a much higher quality than I have in the past (most of my music on itunes is either in MP3 or AAC and want to go down the road of FLAC/ALAC). I did some research on some headphones and decided on Audio-Technica ATH-M50S that i got from a local store. I'm hoping to get some guidance on just about everything related to high quality audio. If you could point me towards threads or even giving me some direct advice I'd do multiple spin moves! thanks!

Not a bad choice of can.  320K MP3 might be good enough for you to be honest, FLAC use up a lot more space, and you may be challenged to hear the difference between them.

What player are you planning to use, you mention AAC and ALAC so i wonder if you use an IPOD, in which case which one?  If your lucky enough to own an older IPOD like 5.5g you could consider using Rockbox to gain even more quality.

I have a iTouch, got it in either '08 or '09.I'm very open to something different if it means better audio quality i enjoy the touch really because of the organization of it.

Although I probably can't hear the difference currently, I would like to be able to one day. I'm thinking my next purchase will be a portable amplifier but again I'm very new to this so maybe that shouldn't be the next thing I buy.

Considering you own an ipod touch check out two very popular apps.

One is called "Equalizer" and the other "Equ" both offer a nice step up from the ipods stock music player.
