Well for starters I have my whole CD collection on my iMacG5, sync'd up with my ipod. I use E2c's for my ipod when i'm at work or on the go. I have since been listening to a lot of music at home through the iMac. I recently got a pair of HD515's and they sound great, i just want them to sound better. I was thinking about putting a headphone amp on the output of the iMac to my headphones. what do you guys think and what types of kits out there would you recommend. I am currently thinking about tweaking the CMOY design, and was looking for a lot of input.

Thanks in advance

I have heard that the mac headphone output isnt that bad, but I know for pc's it isn't the best idea to amp straight from the computer (computer = crappy source = music is already mangled). It's better to start with a better (possibly external) soundcard and then add an amp to that. I would look around in the computer-as-source forum for a better answer to your question.

If you want to get an external sound card check out the

M-Audio Firewire Audiophile available at Amazon.com for like $140.
