Hi everyone
I used to be a member on here a year or so ago (some of you might remember my story about my ATH-A900s being filled with water by a vindictive now ex-girlfriend!).
I've loved my A900s a lot, I'm using them straight out of an iRiver H340 mp3 player, playing .ogg files, and it has been a fantastic step up for someone that is just new to this kind of gear.
I just move to a new place, in with a few friends, one of whom used to do a fair amount of home recording. As such, I've got some audio equipment to play around with. One piece that has caught my attention is an old school Marantz 1040 amplifier.
I've hooked it up fairly simply - RCA cables out of the line-out of the mp3 player into the AUX IN L and R on the back of the amp. Headphones plug straight into the front phone jack.
That is basically all I have done - is there anything else I should do to improve the quality?
Also, when I turn the volume knob on the amp I get crackling in my phones - what would cause this, and is there any way to fix it?
