Hi all - new to this idea of regarding headphones as a key piece of the armoury, mainly because soundstage and ‘musicality’ means a lot to me. While I’ve had a dedicated head-amp and reasonably decent cans for some time, my main rig completely outstrips this part of my setup, and I’d like to remedy that.
Current setup is a modded (by me via Rock Grotto) x-can V2, driving Grado RS1i. Source is a gyrodec se, Origin Live Illustrious mk4 arm, and Rega Apheta 2 cart, RCM Sensor Prelude.
The big spit occurs when I’m listening to my 2 channel, which is an Audion Silver Night Anniversary (huge tube upgrades) and Living Voice speakers. It’s effortless, and I’m trying to find a match in a headphone setup, which mine is nowhere near.
Recently heard athe 2 box gsx i and Final Audio 4000 mix, which was amazing . Looking to try to replicate with a DIY effort.
Any advice?
