Just received my new X5 - 1st Generation.  Looks great, feels great.  Haven't really had a chance to use it yet, but need to know if it is possible to change the "NAMES" of the equalizers?  Instead of Classical, Rock, etc... it would be nice if they could be renamed to Sennheiser, AKG, Car, etc to reflect eq's for various headphones and enviroments.

One other question... unit seems to have plenty of output and according to the specs, is using very good ouput amps... what's the advantage to adding an outboard amp like the Alpen?  Wouldn't it be simply redundant?

Anyone done this?  Can it be done?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the EQ thing but as far as the amplification thing goes I've always been of the mind that they are redundant. ESPECIALLY if we're talking something like the X5 that already has one built in and that it's what it's made for. We aren't talking about a cellphone that can get plenty loud but could benefit from the extra quality from an amp, ya know?

You can do it with the theme DIY tool for X players.
Firstly use the DIY tool to unpack the firmware file, then locate the \str\english\eq.ini and open it with notepad. After that rename the eq style as you like and click Save to save the file, then finally repack the firmware with the DIY tool.
Ps, each style name in eq.ini is enclosed with an attribute name, f.g. <style_rock>Rock</style_rock> what you need to modify is the name in the middle('Rock' in this case), and the attribute name should remain the same.
