Thanks for that, but which one on the SP1000 ? Headphone socket (SP1000) to RCA on the amp and USB to USB on the both units (an adapter needed here) ?

For RCA, you will need a 3.5mm to RCA cable. Then select line out on player and control volume on your focal.

For USB, you need a USB B to C cable, or USB B to A with an adapter to connect to your player

There's a third to use the toslink.
The 3.5mm out on the Sp1000 allows for that.

Yes i did see that option kel77, but i think that would be my least favourite way to go.

I demo both a few weeks back. Sp1000m wins in extensions on both ends. I get a more holographic sound from it using fenders ten5 IEMs

Put it this way, I was going to replace my sp1000m with SR25 thinking it’s good enough for me. Well it wasn’t your mileage may vary based on the iem and cable etc...... good luck!
