I think it is important in this hobby to mention when you have found synergy with a setup. I have really been enjoying my SP1000 in dac mode and find the output to be non fatiguing and engaging when operated as follows. It also gives me Roon for the SP1000.

I came from the AK380 cooper and though I like it, the SP1000 is a significant upgrade. I listened to the SP2000 and I don’t feel the need to upgrade.

It will be better when they finally have roon support on the SP1000. It has been promised for over a year now.

Roon is a music library and streaming solution. It brings lots of information with it as well as incredible music discovery tools. I doubted it until I tried the trial version. After that there was no going back for me.

Coming from the SP1000M I can also say that I don't feel a significant need to upgrade to the 2000.

On a side note, I received the Dignis Alcantara case today and my god does it feel amazing

My knowledge is somewhat limited but from what I know Roon optimizes the PC to "focus" on the sound more so than other processes. It also decodes MQA if your DAC doesn't (in this case it does though)

Overall, I'd say a marginal improvement at best, I tried Audirvana, which is supposed to have less features but similar sound improvements, and I didn't find to be any major differences

I don’t know since ak doesn’t offer roon, but it improved sound quality on my pc when I use my pc as the source to play music.
It’s slightly better than the groove, jriver, and iTunes.
